Sale Sharks have confirmed the re-signing of current Lions centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg ahead of the 2018/19 season.
The Springbok centre was set to be contracted with Johannesburg based Super Rugby side the Lions until November 2018 but has been granted an early release that will see the muscle-bound centre join Sale five-months early.
Rensburg spent a short stint with the Manchester-based side last season on a short-term contract but will return to the Sharks on a three-year deal.
Sharks Director of Rugby Steve Diamond is very pleased to announce the signing, he said:
"I am delighted to have secured the services of Rohan for the next three years. He made a huge impact when he joined midway through last season and is another building block in our desire to be a top-four team."
The rampaging centre, also able to cover wing, confirmed the decision to return to Manchester and play alongside former Lions teammate Faf de Klerk was too tempting to turn down.
"This was probably one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make so far in my career," Rensburg said. "However, having spent a short time with the Sharks last season, I know where the club wants to go and what everyone at Sale is building towards. It is something I definitely want to be a part of!
I'm looking forward to seeing everybody at Carrington and can't wait to start working hard with the boys to make the club as strong as possible!"
At just 23-year-old and at his physical peak, the news of the Springbok's Premiership return is a real coup for the Sharks, with the prospect of linking up with talented duo Mark Jennings and Sam James in the Sale midfield.
