Saracens have replenished their options at tighthead after injuries and international callups stripped the position down to the bare bones.
The Premiership champions have signed former Hurricanes prop Hisa Sasagi on a short-term deal. The 31-year-old tighthead will serve as injury cover for Argentinian frontrower Juan Figallo and backup to Springbok Vincent Koch.
In addition to Figallo's knee ligament injury that is expected to rule the Argentinian international out until December, Saracens' stocks at tighthead were further diminished following the international callup for USA prop Titi Lamositele.
Sasagi established himself as a regular starter in the ITM Cup in 2015, helping Otago reach the Championship semi-finals before being selected as a member of the Hurricanes wider training group ahead of the 2016 Super Rugby season.
The four-times-capped Samoan international will remain at Allianz Park until the end of January 2019.
Saracens are set to face Sale Sharks in the Premiership Cup this evening (Friday), in which another short-term tighthead prop signing - Cornish Pirates man Christian Judge - will start.
The English champions' injury issues on the right side of the scrum has forced them to select their first-choice tighthead, Koch, on the bench, stretching their propping reserves.
