Northampton Saints have confirmed the signing of former Wasps and Stade Francais scrum-half Charlie Davies from Pro14 side the Dragons.
Davies, 28, made 84 appearances in the Premiership for Wasps before moving to Dragons in 2015. Formerly of Nottingham and Stade Francais, the Chesterfield-born halfback will link up with the Saints ahead of the 2018/19 season.
“The decision to join a Club like Northampton Saints was a no-brainer,” Davies said.
“Saints has a great set-up – the training facilities are top-notch and the stadium is superb. I remember from my time playing in the Premiership that Franklin’s Gardens is formidable place to play, and I’m looking forward to having that support behind me next year.
“I’m excited about joining up with the squad when pre-season starts later this month, and giving a good account of myself so I can push for a regular start.”
Davies will go some way to replacing former Saints scrum-half Nic Groom, who returned to South Africa mid-season to join up with the Johannesburg-based Super Rugby side the Lions following an injury crisis at halfback.
