After injuries ravaged Newcastle Falcons' options at tighthead prop, the club have confirmed the short-term signing of 15-times-capped Welsh international Craig Mitchell, 32.
Formerly of Ospreys, Cardiff Blues, Newport Gwent Dragons, Exeter Chiefs man most recently played for Greene King IPA Championship side Yorkshire Carnegie, but after playing in two of the Falcons' Premiership Shield fixtures this season, has been rewarded with a three-month deal at Kingston Park.
“Craig is a vastly-experienced campaigner who can add to our depth at a time when we have been hit by a number of injuries to our props." Newcastle's Director of Rugby Dean Richards told the club website.
He continued, “We have had a good look at him in action for our A-Team over the last couple of Shield games, and it’s great to be able to draft him in for the next three months.”
