Worcester Warriors announce the signing of Hurricanes’ lock ahead of the 2018/19 season.
Worcester have announced the signing of second row Michael Fatialofa from Super Rugby side the Hurricanes ahead of the 2018/19 season.
The New Zealander has signed a two-year deal with the Warriors and will arrive following the conclusion of the Mitre10 Cup with Auckland this year. The Auckland-born lock has represented the Hurricanes in Super Rugby 14 times to-date and is set to add to his tally this weekend against the Sharks.
Fatialofa, 25, will go some way to filling the gaps left by Christian Scotland-Williamson, Will Spencer and Donncha O'Callaghan, all of whom will be leaving or have already left the Warriors this season.
Fatialofa said: “I’m very excited about making the move to England and testing myself in the Northern Hemisphere competitions.
“The Hurricanes are an amazing club and I’m 100 per cent committed to giving everything I have to them this season, before arriving at Worcester and starting a new challenge.”
Warriors Director of Rugby Alan Solomons added: “Michael is an absolutely outstanding player and it’s massive for the Club to bring him here to Sixways.
“He will no doubt have a huge impact on the team and we look forward to welcoming him to the Club following the Mitre 10 Cup campaign later this year.”
Fatialofa is yet another name to add to Solomons’ signings ahead of next season, with Ashley Beck (centre), Callum Black (prop), Cornell du Preez (backrow), Micheal Heaney (scrum-half), Jono Lance (fly-half), Issac Miller (hooker), Scott van Breda (fullback) and Francois Venter (centre) all set to join the Warriors next season.
