Sale Sharks wing Josh Charnley has left Rugby Union to return to Rugby League with Warrington Wolves.
Sale Sharks wing Charnley will end his 18-month spell in Union with immediate effect, returning to his former code with Warrington Wolves.
After joining Sale in 2016, Charnley racked up 32 appearances for the Sharks but struggled to nail down a starting role in a competitive backline. The 26-year-old will resume his League career, looking to build upon his seven England caps between 2012 and 2014.
Sale Sharks Director of Rugby, Steve Diamond, had this to say. "Josh has been a pleasure to work with and he has been a great servant for Sale.
"However, we have a highly competitive squad here at Sale and Josh's desire was to play every week and we couldn't guarantee him that.
"Given how important his desire to play every week was to Josh and to the club, we thought that this opportunity was right for both parties."
