Premiership stars Semesa Rokoduguni and Tommy Taylor are the latest names to return to fitness after a 2017/18 season blighted by injury.
Rokodoguni (Bath) and Taylor (Wasps) were two men fighting to nail down spots in England's wider squad before untimely long-term injuries but will earn a chance to prove their fitness during pre-season fixtures this weekend.
Beside the Fijian wing sensation, Nathan Catt (prop), Dave Attwood (lock), Max Clarke (centre) and current England regular Sam Underhill (flanker) all feature in the Bath squad named by Todd Blackadder earlier today to face Edinburgh Rugby tomorrow evening at Meggetland Sports Complex.
Alongside Taylor, Wasps boss Dai Young has named South African utility forward (hooker and backrow) Ashley Johnson as captain for the side to face Connacht. The 3-times-capped Springbok spent an extended period away from playing last season.
A backdated ban for use of illegal performance-enhancing substances kept the 32-year-old out of contention since early 2018.
The verdict that came earlier this summer was that Johnson was deemed to have ingested unintentionally and that his 6-month ban would be backdated to include time spent behind the scenes.
