England and Bath centre Jonathan Joseph requires surgery and will miss England's summer tour to Souh Africa.
Joseph will require foot surgery after being forced from the field in the 29th minute of Bath's 6-41 loss to Saracens in the Premiership last weekend.
Director of Rugby, Todd Blackadder, said: “JJ is going to need surgery to correct his injury. He will then need a lengthy period of time to rehabilitate.
“Our medical team will work closely with him to ensure we get him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”
The 26-year-old has been in and out of England's starting XV so far this season, with Eddie Jones testing Exeter Chiefs' Henry Slade and Worcester's Ben Te'o in the 13 jersey.
In light of the news of Joseph's surgery, a handful of names will be thrown into the mix ahead of England's tour to SA. Jones is expected to test a few new players this June, with outside centre one of the most undecided positions, along with openside flanker and fullback.
