Leicester Tigers' summer signing Guy Thompson is expected to be out with injury until the New Year.
After arriving from local rivals Wasps over the summer, Thompson is expected to be ruled out with injury until the start of 2019. Reports also suggest Leicester are struggling with a host of injuries to their squad, the extent and specifics of which are yet to be confirmed.
Tigers signed the 30-year-old backrower - along with Worcester pair Will Spencer (lock) and David Denton (backrow) - in an attempt to tip the scales in their favour, having struggled to hold their own against top Premiership packs throughout the 2017/18 season.
With Head Coach Matt O'Connor thought to be under pressure from the team's governing board, this run of injuries will come as unwelcome news. Leicester missed out on the Premiership semi-finals for the first time in 14 years last season, a statistic that the powers that be at Welford Road have not taken to kindly.
Additionally, Matt O'Connor turned up two weeks late for pre-season training earlier this summer and with a reason yet to be discovered Leicester fans could be set for yet another staff upheaval in the near future after seeing former player and coach Richard Cockerill and current Highlanders boss Aaron Mauger ousted from their positions during the 2016/17 season, with O'Connor taking charge of the side just three months before the end of the season.
