Wasps are set to be without summer signing Brad Shields after the backrower fractured his cheek during the Coventry-based side's Premiership defeat at the hands of former champions Exeter Chiefs earlier today.
The England backrower clashed heads with Exeter scrum-half Stu Townsend and was forced from the field during the second half, lasting just 43 minutes during his Premiership debut.
The former Hurricanes captain will see a specialist on Monday to assess whether he requires surgery. Wasps have announced an anticipated layoff period of three to eight weeks.
Wasps boss Dai Young faces the risk of being without six frontline backrows with Shields, Nizaam Carr, Alex Reider, Thomas Young, Jack Willis and potentially Nathan Hughes (who was forced from the field 10 minutes after Shields) all ruled out with injury.
